iTunes 11

After a month's delay of release, finally we are getting the all new updated iTunes 11! It has a very new interface and a lot of cool new features which brought down it's predecessor iTunes 10.7. Let's all take a closer look of how this new improved iTunes work and whether we'd give Apple another thumbs up or a thumbs down.

It's time to let go of the ever famous cover flow which iTunes definitely is famous for since its first release. I guess Apple had the idea of overhauling the application to fit to the new interfaces of the iOS 6. The design is basically very similar to iPad music players but what's great with this new version is that it has that very smooth feel. 

Choosing for songs, albums, artists and playlists became much easier since everything you need is just a click away at the very top. The menu bar was even hidden to maintain its neatness and classy environment. 

There was no exact replacement for the cover flow since if you would want to check out the album artwork, you would have to manually click on the album cover located near the player controls to pop-up a new window which would show the album artwork and another set of controls. That's kind of confusing for new users but I'm sure everybody will get the hang of it.

The feature which I absolutely like about iTunes 11 is the albums tab. Yeah, it looks more of the album tab of your iPad music player, but hidden in it is a feature where a list of songs from an album is shown differently. And for every album, the color scheme changes depending on the color scheme of the album. 

Choosing for a particular artist is even easier with iTunes 11 since everything is now a scroll away. Playing your favorite song as a next track is now more convenient since you can just click on a song which you would want to be played next and it automatically is being added on a queue.

So many cool features are in store for the new iTunes. Check it out by updating your old iTunes. For me, it's definitely a great update for everyone. I would say this is an early holiday gift from Apple.

I mean, why'd look for a more expensive headphone when you can get the exact experience and satisfaction at more than half the price.

OVERALL

When Jose met Rizal

Last September 29, my housemates composed of David, John Mart, Shiela and Jose went for a very random stroll at Rizal Park. It's not like it's our first to be in Manila but we have to admit that we still haven't been to this very historical landmark. 

Rizal Park, also known as Luneta has been a witness of stories which could now only be found in Philippine history books. It has been the site of some of the most significant moments of our country. To cite some, this place was where our national hero, Dr. José Protacio Rizal has been shot dead and this was also the place where independence from America was declared.

Okay, enough with some history as it may become way too boring to discuss all of them (I have to admit, I've slept in history class before). So yeah, we strolled our way to Luneta and it was overwhelming to revisit history. 

We started our "tour" capturing the ever famous Rizal monument which is being guarded 24/7. It was quite a push since there were so many tourists (Americans, Koreans, Japs) wanting to take a picture of this monument.

We also visited the area where Dr. Rizal was exactly shot dead and we were just in time for the show. There were plenty of kids during that time since I was guessing there was a field trip of some sort. A historian was there narrating the story of Rizal and how he fought for the country. The amazing part of the show was when the narrator had to say "Fuego!" and shots exploded from the guns of these huge statues mimicking the real assassination of the national hero.

     

And of course we didn't miss the opportunity to take some wacky pictures with these gigantic statues. It was the funnest part of the tour actually. It was the best time for Jose (our friend) to finally meet the other Jose (Rizal).

Going to Luneta was definitely fun. For tourists like me, here's how we got to this historical place:

• From Pasig, take MRT 1 Southbound to Taft Ave Station
• Transfer to LRT 1 bound for Monumento and drop off at United Nations Ave
• Walk towards T.M. Kalaw

Hello World

Back in college, we were always taught how to write codes for different programming languages. I'm sure most software developers are familiar with the "Hello World" statement which is always being used whenever one starts to learn the basics of programming. It is like the stepping stone before knowing the advanced techniques in writing a program. Besides, technology needs a big "hello world" for it to be noticed by the society.

Same with this blog, I greet a big hello to everyone who's reading, has read and will be reading my posts. It has been a very crazy adventure since I graduated college. I've realized that the world is indeed a very wide place to explore and discover.

I love how technology makes the world run (yeah, sorry Beyonce but reality check: it's technology and not girls). Which is why I'll be writing much about techie and geeky stuffs in here. But I won't limit myself to those. Expect some personal experiences, new places I've been to and so much food in this blog, too.

I have to admit that I'm not really good when it comes to writing, but I promise to improve in every post I make. Once again, thanks for reading!
